State-of-the-art facilities

In 1997, the state-of-the-art Manufacturing Engineering Building opened for use by the students and faculty of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. This $7 million facility houses the faculty and staff offices for the department, computerized classrooms for distance learning education, teleconference facilities, and computer-based laboratories for simulation and manufacturing processes.
 

Research

Our department is home to 11 full-time faculty – nationally recognized experts in a broad range of research areas. From emergency services to Six-Sigma and other quality principles to computer-integrated design and manufacturing, our faculty have published award-winning textbooks and received major awards as recognition of their contributions to the profession. Our average research funding per professor ranks among the highest in the college, and provides a testament to the value our professors and students bring in tackling tough, real-world problems at manufacturing organizations such as Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and Arvin Meritor.

 

Financing your degree

As part of evolving relationships with industry, the department offers several funding opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, including performance-based academic scholarships, and corporate-sponsored internships to gain real-world, industrial experience while completing your degree.
